Overseas travel writers enjoy kayaking in Northern Ireland
Travel writers from Germany, Holland, Norway and India were in Northern Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland. They were here to experience and enjoy kayaking on Strangford Lough and around the North Coast.
Following an itinerary devised by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and led by Stephen Craig, the president of the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland, the group spent time kayaking in and around the many islands and inlets to be found in Strangford Lough. The group also spent a day sea kayaking along the Causeway Coast, taking in the magnificent sea views of the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Giant’s Causeway.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these journalists to come and explore some of the many things to do and see in Northern Ireland. Strangford Lough and the Causeway Coast are both areas of outstanding natural beauty and I know the journalists were impressed by the stunning scenery, clear waters and the iconic visitor attractions.
“Media visits like this are an important element of our busy publicity programme each year, helping to raise the profile of Northern Ireland and ultimately to achieve our goal of increasing visitor numbers from around the world.”
