Tourism Ireland Welcomes Aer Lingus Regional Flight from Birmingham to Knock

Tourism Ireland has welcomed today’s announcement of a new Aer Lingus Regional flight between Birmingham and Ireland West Airport Knock, from 11 June. This daily service will replace the bmibaby service from Birmingham (which finishes on 10 June), keeping Birmingham connected to Mayo and the west of Ireland for both leisure and business tourism.

Niall Gibbons, chief executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “The introduction of this new Aer Lingus Regional flight, to replace the bmibaby service, is good news for tourism to Mayo and the west of Ireland. As part of our ongoing co-operation with key carriers and airports, Tourism Ireland will undertake advertising and other promotions in GB together with Aer Lingus Regional, to maximise the demand for this route and boost tourism to Mayo and the west of Ireland. As an island destination, direct, convenient and competitive access services are critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism. Tourism Ireland is committed to working with air and sea carriers, airports and other tourism interests to drive demand for this flight to IWAK, and all other services to Ireland, and to help maintain our vital network of routes and services.”
