European Motorsport Journalists Visit the Causeway Coast and North West 200

Tourism Ireland invited journalists from top motorsport magazines in Germany and Italy to visit the North Coast last week, to take in the sights and sounds of the area as well as the annual North West 200 road races.

In addition to watching the races, the journalists enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the Causeway Coastal route including the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Dunluce Castle, Glenarriff Forest Park and the walled garden at Glenarm Castle. Their itinerary was planned by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

Zoe Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Central Europe, said: “The North West 200 is an amazing spectacle and one that needs to be experienced at first-hand. We are delighted these journalists have spent time enjoying this unique event, as well as seeing our spectacular scenery and tapping into the fun of holidaying here. Visits such as this are extremely important, helping to build awareness of what’s on offer in Northern Ireland for motorbike fans, as well as our spectacular scenery and wealth of attractions.

“Tourism Ireland is undertaking extensive promotions in Germany, Italy and other key European markets this year, highlighting all that is happening in Northern Ireland in 2012 and beyond. These journalists have had the opportunity to see some of that at first-hand, helping to re-enforce our key message that there has never been a better time to visit Northern Ireland.”
