Tourism Ireland welcomes new Aer Lingus routes from Europe for winter

Tourism Ireland warmly welcomes the announcement by Aer Lingus of new winter routes from Mainland Europe to Ireland. The three new routes which were introduced for the summer months – Verona to Dublin, Stockholm to Dublin and Brussels to Cork – will continue into the winter. The Copenhagen to Dublin route will be re-introduced, as a daily service. Frequencies will increase on routes from Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna; and services from Bordeaux (two flights per week) and Venice (three flights per week) will continue. Working closely with airlines to build demand for routes is a key priority for Tourism Ireland and these new flights will provide a welcome boost for tourism from Mainland Europe into the shoulder and winter seasons.

Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “The introduction of these new Aer Lingus winter routes is welcome news indeed; they will certainly expand travel options for European holiday and business travellers who wish to visit Ireland in the coming off-peak months. As part of our ongoing co-operation with key carriers and airports, Tourism Ireland will undertake advertising and other promotions with Aer Lingus, to maximise the demand for these routes and boost tourism to the island of Ireland. As an island destination, direct, convenient and competitive access services are critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism. Tourism Ireland is committed to working with air and sea carriers, airports and other tourism interests to drive demand for these flights, and all other services to Ireland, and to help maintain our vital network of routes and services.”
