Belfast has been listed as one of the top city break destinations for 2012 by German newspaper Die Zeit. Welcoming this news, Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “This is a great accolade for Belfast from Germany’s most-read newspaper. The timing couldn’t be better as we roll out our busiest programme of promotions for Northern Ireland in Germany and other key markets. Germany is the largest outbound travel market in the world and the third-largest source of overseas visitors to Northern Ireland.
“This accolade, combined with the exciting programme of events planned for ni2012 and the opening of iconic new attractions like Titanic Belfast, will help to ensure that Belfast and Northern Ireland welcome many more overseas visitors this year and in the years ahead.”
