1.2+ million Swedes see Ireland on popular reality TV show

Images of Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare were beamed into the homes of about 1.2 million television viewers across Sweden earlier this week. 

A TV crew – filming for one of Sweden’s most popular dating TV programmes, Bonde Söker Fru (meaning Farmer Searches for a Wife) – travelled to Ireland earlier this year, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, and captured footage at a number of locations. Now in its seventh season, the Irish episode aired on Swedish TV station TV4, as part of the final show of the series, attracting over 1.2 million viewers. It is also available to watch online on TV4 Play, the station’s on-demand player. The programme includes clips of the Swedish couple arriving for their ‘romantic’ break, with a TV crew recording their adventures here. They travelled around in a vintage Volkswagen Beetle, stopping to film scenes in the Powerscourt Centre in Dublin and of the Viking Splash Tour as well as at places like Glendalough and Powerscourt and at Killashee House Hotel in Naas.
