A group of leading travel agents from Australia visited Ireland last week, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Travelscene American Express and Etihad Airways. The travel agents were here to experience at first-hand some of the many things to see and do here for holidaymakers from ‘Down Under’. The agents’ itinerary, designed by Fáilte Ireland, took in Dublin, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Kildare, Cavan and Meath. The visit was also an excellent opportunity to highlight the ease of access and connectivity between Australia and Ireland, with Etihad Airways via Abu Dhabi.
Jim Paul, Tourism Ireland’s head of Australia and developing markets, said: “We were delighted to bring these influential travel agents to Ireland. Fact-finding visits like this are extremely important, as they help the agents to know exactly what we have to offer potential holidaymakers from Australia; the aim is that when they return home they are very familiar with the island of Ireland, the wonderful tourism product on offer here and how easy it is to get here, and are better equipped to advise their clients on future travel plans and holiday bookings. Tourism Ireland has an extensive promotional campaign under way in Australia this year and we are working closely with partners like Etihad to highlight ease of access to Ireland and the great value fares now available.”
