A record 253,000 Italian visitors came to the island of Ireland in 2006. Almost 11% of visitors from mainland Europe to the island of Ireland are Italian.
253,000 Italian visitors came to the island of Ireland in 2006, an increase of 29% on the previous year and the highest number ever recorded. Revenue from the market also increased by 23%, to €156m/£107m.Almost two-thirds of all Italian holidaymakers arrive between June and August, and the attraction of exploring Ireland’s sights and experiencing the culture is the greatest motivation for Italians in choosing Ireland. Most holidays are pre-booked, with a high proportion using the travel trade and up to four in 10 purchasing an inclusive/package-type holiday.
