Italy Overview

234,000 Italian visitors came to the island of Ireland in 2008, representing revenue from the market of €165m/£111m.  Almost 8% of visitors from Mainland Europe to the island of Ireland are Italian.

Nearly two-thirds of all Italian holidaymakers arrive between June and August, and the attraction of exploring Ireland’s sights and experiencing the culture is the greatest motivation for Italians in choosing Ireland. Most holidays are pre-booked, with a high proportion using the travel trade and up to four in 10 purchasing an inclusive/package-type holiday.
