108,000 Canadian visitors came to the island of Ireland in 2008, this represents an increase of 5% on the previous year. Revenue from visiting Canadians was €77M/£51M.

Canada is an important market for the island of Ireland and international travel by Canadians is at an all time high. Europe is the destination of choice for about half of all the overseas trips they take and Britain is the top destination. The primary appeals for travel to Europe are culture, history and gastronomy.
 
One in four Canadians who are likely to visit Europe in the next five years express themselves as ‘extremely interested’ in visiting the island of Ireland.
