Start Spreading the News … Showcasing the island of Ireland in the US

06 Apr 2010

Industry partners from around the island of Ireland took part in a ‘Back in the USA’ sales blitz last week, organised by Tourism Ireland, in Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.

The busy schedule for the participating tourism providers included an ‘Experience a Flavor of Ireland’ business-to-business event in each of the three cities, where they met with key American travel trade such as carriers, tour operators and travel agents, as well as influential travel media contacts.  The events provided an excellent opportunity for the participants to showcase their product to these important decision-makers and to encourage them to include Ireland in their future holiday programmes.  The group also engaged in a series of sales calls and worked with airline call centre teams, to enthuse them about the island of Ireland.

Joe Byrne, Tourism Ireland’s Executive Vice President North America, said: “North America is a very important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and Tourism Ireland is working closely with our industry partners to deliver a +2% growth in visitors this year.  We have a comprehensive promotional programme in place in the US for 2010, with a range of extensive campaigns providing compelling reasons to visit and emphasising the convenience and value of a holiday here.  We are working more closely with our tourism industry partners than ever before, to help ‘close the sale’ with potential holidaymakers.  The message for Americans is that there has never been a better time to visit the island of Ireland.”
