A leading British travel organisation – the Albatross Travel Group – held its annual conference last weekend in Kinsale. One hundred and twenty of the company’s top sales, marketing and reservations staff attended the two-day conference. Their visit was co-sponsored by Tourism Ireland. While here, the group took time out from their busy working sessions to enjoy a guided tour at the Jameson Experience at Midleton. They also enjoyed an evening of Irish entertainment at The Lord Kingsale.
Lawrence Bate, Tourism Ireland’s Head of GB said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted to welcome the Albatross Travel Group to Kinsale. It is a great honour for Kinsale and Ireland to have been chosen as the venue for the company’s annual conference.
“Great Britain is the largest and most important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and 2010 is the year when Tourism Ireland, with support from the tourism industry, will return the GB market to growth. A key element of Tourism Ireland’s strategy this year is to re-engage and re-energise the travel trade in Great Britain, by re-establishing the island of Ireland as a ‘stand-out’ destination with key trade buyers. We are targeting group organisers, coach operators, specialist and general tour operators through a programme of workshops and face-to-face events throughout the year.
“We believe that it is extremely important for influential decision-makers such as these to experience for themselves the high standard of the tourism product on offer in Kinsale and Co Cork for potential GB holidaymakers, so they can sell more effectively when they return home and entice even greater numbers of visitors from GB to come and holiday here.”
The Albratoss Travel Group is a leading wholesale tour operator in business for over 25 years, specialising in providing group travel arrangements to the island of Ireland as well as to destinations across Mainland Europe, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
