Britain’s Top Travel Brains Do Battle for Cup

03 May 2010

Fifty-three of the top travel media brains in Britain gathered recently for the annual Tourism Ireland media quiz.  The teams – made up of journalists from top GB newspapers, radio and television – gathered in London’s Covent Garden to do battle for the much coveted Tourism Ireland trophy.

As in previous years, competition was intense with questions on general knowledge about the island of Ireland, our literature, music, sport and geography.  The winning team was ‘The Guardian Angels’ – made up of writers from The Guardian and Observer newspapers.

John Lahiffe, Tourism Ireland’s Publicity Manager for GB, said: “We have an exceptionally busy publicity programme in place for 2010, working with a huge number of key print, broadcast and online journalists around Britain.  The Tourism Ireland annual media quiz is a fun, informal way of focusing the attention of these influential journalists on the island of Ireland and all we have to offer to potential British holidaymakers.”
