Tourism Ireland Board Meets In Londonderry

23 Sep 2009

The board of Tourism Ireland took the opportunity while they were in Londonderry to meet with representatives of the tourism industry in the north-west, to discuss the season and the extensive autumn promotional programme which Tourism Ireland has in place right now across the globe.

Speaking before the meeting, Hugh Friel, Chairman of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be visiting the north-west for our Board Meeting and meeting with representatives from the industry here.  It is hugely competitive in the overseas markets this year, which we know poses major challenges for all tourism enterprises; it is therefore more important than ever that we continue to work together to maximise the opportunities for Northern Ireland in the overseas marketplace.

“Our £14m autumn campaign is in full swing right now, aimed at attracting overseas tourists to come and visit Northern Ireland this autumn.  The campaign – under way in Great Britain, North America and Mainland Europe – is focusing particularly on promoting the incredible value for money offers provided by the tourism industry.”
