Journalists representing a number of leading newspapers and business and lifestyle magazines from India visited the Shannon Region this week. Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland in Mumbai, their fact-finding itinerary was designed in consultation with Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Development.
Jim Paul, Tourism Ireland’s Head of New & Developing Markets, said: “We are delighted to welcome this group of journalists to Ireland and the Shannon Region. This is an invaluable opportunity to raise the profile of this part of Ireland as a premier destination among potential holidaymakers in India. The visit of these influential journalists will result in extensive and positive publicity for the Shannon Region across a range of different publications.
“The Indian market offers exciting possibilities for tourism to the island of Ireland in the medium- to long-term. The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has forecast that the Asia-Pacific region will be one of the fastest-growing regions for outbound travel in the next ten years. Growth in travel from long-haul markets such as India will re-shape the global tourism landscape, with significant implications for tourism to the island of Ireland.”
