Swiss Journalists take time out in Belfast

10 Dec 2009

Three leading travel journalists from Switzerland enjoyed the Christmas festivities in Belfast recently, shopping at the Continental Christmas Market and visiting the City Hall.

The journalists also had the opportunity to call into the newly renovated Ulster Museum, take a walking tour of the Cathedral Quarter Art Galleries and enjoy a Christmas Evening of Music at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

Tina Gauges, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Central Europe, said: “We are delighted to welcome this group of Swiss journalists for their first ever visit to Northern Ireland.  They have been really impressed by the range of things to see and do around the city of Belfast, and of course, by the friendliness of the people they have met.

“Fact-finding visits like this are extremely important, to help us get positive exposure for Northern Ireland through the travel media in Switzerland.  This is an excellent way of promoting the wonderful tourism product on offer here, as the articles these influential journalists write will be read by many potential Swiss holidaymakers.”

The visit was organised by Tourism Ireland in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
