Music fans Elizabeth McArthur and Paul Beeby enjoyed a “festival break” in Belfast recently - courtesy of Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. They were the lucky prizewinners of a competition which ran on Radio Clyde in Glasgow, to promote short, festival-based breaks in Northern Ireland.
The radio promotion was just one element of Tourism Ireland’s 2009 programme to promote Northern Ireland in the Scottish market. Tourism Ireland’s spring marketing campaign is in full swing in Scotland right now, with a huge tactical focus. The campaign highlights the wonderful experience on offer in Northern Ireland and the great value and ease of access by air and sea. The campaign will continue throughout 2009, to secure exposure for Northern Ireland on TV, radio, in national and regional newspapers – particularly in the influential travel supplements, and in lifestyle and special interest publications. The new ‘Go Where Ireland Takes You’ advertising campaign is rolling out right now, driving Scottish consumers to where they will find best value offers and compelling reasons to visit Northern Ireland.
The prize included attending the 5th Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival, where Raul Malo of the Mavericks performed. The line-up also included prominent Nashville singer Benita Hill and local singer/songwriter, Anthony Toner.
