A group of leading Chinese travel agents arrived in Ireland last week, on a fact-finding visit. The group of influential agents was carefully selected by Tourism Ireland in China and brought here to experience at first-hand our wonderful landscape and visitor attractions. One of the highlights of their itinerary, put together by Fáilte Ireland, was a guided tour of Birr Castle.
Susan Li, Tourism Ireland China, said: “We are delighted to bring these travel agents to Birr Castle and to Co Offaly. There is increasing awareness of the island of Ireland as a holiday destination in China and our marketing campaigns are generating keen interest in Ireland. Tourism Ireland works closely with influential travel agents such as these on an ongoing basis; encouraging them to come and experience Ireland at first-hand, so that they can spread the good news and sell more effectively when they return home and entice more Chinese visitors to holiday here.
“Tourism Ireland believes that the Asian outbound travel market, including China, is set for significant growth in the coming years. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) the Asia-Pacific region will be one of the fastest-growing outbound regions, expanding by +6.5% on average over the next 15 years.”
