Journalists representing a number of leading newspapers and lifestyle magazines from Australia visited Co Monaghan earlier this week. Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland in Sydney and Etihad Airways, their fact-finding itinerary was designed in consultation with Fáilte Ireland.
The visit of these influential journalists is part of Tourism Ireland’s press visit programme, which aims to increase awareness of the island of Ireland among key journalists and opinion-formers overseas, and ultimately potential holidaymakers. Commenting on the importance of this type of fact-finding visit, Orla Saul, Tourism Ireland Australia, said: “We are delighted to welcome this group of journalists to Ireland and Monaghan. This is an invaluable opportunity to raise the profile of this part of Ireland among potential holidaymakers in Australia. The visit of these influential journalists will result in extensive and positive publicity for Monaghan across a range of different publications.
“Right now in Australia, Tourism Ireland is pulling out all the stops to win business for the remainder of this year and for 2010 and to keep Monaghan and the island of Ireland ‘top of mind’ with the Australian consumer. Our promotional activity is highlighting that the island of Ireland is a great place to visit and offers the consumer tremendous value for money.”
