Keeping Belfast on the map

A new Tourism Ireland initiative, to attract GB visitors to Belfast and Northern Ireland, will reach 4.6 million newspaper readers around Great Britain this weekend (5th and 6th September).

The four-page promotional tourism supplement will be distributed in national GB newspapers, including the Mail on Sunday, The Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, The Herald, Scotland on Sunday and the Sunday Times – which have a combined circulation of 4.6 million readers.  The supplement will highlight the tremendous value for money available for holidays and short breaks in Belfast this autumn.  The supplement promotes 25 great value deals – including special offers for Belfast hotels such as the Wellington Park Hotel, Malone Lodge, Fitzwilliam Hotel, Jurys Inn, Ramada Encore, La Mon, Radisson Blu and Ten Square.

Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “This year, it is more competitive than ever before in the Great Britain market and, naturally enough, value and price are absolutely critical for the consumer.  As well as continuing to highlight the many reasons why Northern Ireland is such a great place to visit and the ease of getting here from GB, Tourism Ireland is placing significant emphasis on value for money offers - to drive home to GB consumers our message about the superb range of offers available in Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland.”

This promotional supplement is part of Tourism Ireland’s extensive £14 million marketing campaign, aimed at attracting overseas tourists to come and visit Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland this autumn.  The campaign, which is being rolled out right now in Great Britain, North America and Mainland Europe, is focusing particularly on promoting the incredible value for money offers provided by the tourism industry.  According to Tourism Ireland, the September-December period traditionally yields as much as 30% of overall tourism business.
