Jedward do their bit for Irish Tourism

11 Dec 2009

Jedward will hit the airwaves in Britain again this weekend – but this time to promote holidays in Ireland.

Capitalising on the expected hype for The X Factor final this weekend, Tourism Ireland has got agreement from Jedward to be the butt of a series of comic, tongue-in-cheek, radio ads that will air this Saturday and Sunday on some of Britain’s top radio stations including Capital Radio, Magic 105.4 and Heart 106.2.

The Grimes twins are lending their weight to promote good value offers and holiday breaks across the island, by way of a tongue-in-cheek apology to anyone they might have offended in recent months.

Commenting on the initiative, Lawrence Bate, Tourism Ireland’s Head of GB, said:  “Jedward certainly captured the public imagination here in Britain over the past few months and it makes sense for Tourism Ireland to involve them in our new drive to attract British visitors.  We are very grateful to the duo and their management for lending their weight to the new campaign to restore the British market to growth.

“Radio is a very powerful medium for getting across the message that there is great value available on the island of Ireland now – great fares to get here, great offers from the industry and great value menus to be found in our restaurants and eateries.”
