International Travel Writers Stop off at Ulster American Folk Park

28 May 2009

Delegates from the US Travel Classic Writers Conference had the opportunity to call in at the Ulster American Folk Park, as part of a recent familiarisation trip around Northern Ireland.  The travel writers also enjoyed visiting the Giant’s Causeway, a walking tour of the walled city of Derry, a cookery lesson at Belle Isle in Co Fermanagh, and a tour of the St Patrick’s Country.  The conference and familiarisation trips were organised jointly by Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
This was the first time the conference had been held in Northern Ireland, and the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast was the venue.  Now in its 16th consecutive year, this conference is regarded as the world’s foremost networking event for travel writers and editors.  Over the four days, 30 freelance travel writers from the United States had meetings with 15 assigning editors from the top travel, food, sports and lifestyle publications in America.
