International Tourism Buyers Follow American Connections Route in Londonderry and Tyrone

19 May 2009

Tourism Ireland brought over 100 tourism buyers from around the world to Northern Ireland for the recent Meet the Buyer workshop in Belfast.  During their stay, the buyers had a chance to experience at first-hand the local tourism product in Londonderry and Tyrone.

‘American Connections’ was the theme of the tour operators’ itinerary and they enjoyed a tour of the historic Walled City of Derry as well as the 17th century Springhill House in Moneymore, considered to be one of the prettiest National Trust properties.  They stopped at An Creagán Interpretative Centre near Omagh and visited the Ulster American Folk Park, which tells the story of the emigration from the ‘Old World’ to the ‘New World’ of the Americas.

Their fact-finding visit was organised by Tourism Ireland in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
