Influential French Tourism Planners visit Malahide

30 Mar 2009

A group of top Incentive, Corporate Meetings, and Conference Planners from France visited Malahide Castle and Dublin at the weekend.  Their trip was organised by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland.

These influential Business Tourism buyers were carefully selected by Tourism Ireland in France and brought to Dublin to experience what the city has to offer and to sample some of the city’s venues for their conferences, exhibitions, corporate events and meetings.  Business Tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, offering significant economic benefits.

As well as a tour of Malahide Castle, the group’s visit included a presentation on the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) which is due to open in September of next year; they also inspected other venues including the Shelbourne and Dylan Hotels and enjoyed a night of Irish hospitality with The Merry Ploughboys in Rathfarnham.

Billy Condon, Tourism Ireland France, said: “We are delighted that so many of these key business tourism companies have taken the time to come to Dublin and see what we have to offer for themselves at first-hand.   Business Tourism is an extremely important, high yield sector and Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote Dublin and the island of Ireland as a premier business tourism destination.”
