A group of top Business Tourism decision-makers from China visited the Shannon Region earlier this week. The group included executives from China Travel Services (CTS), the largest conference and incentive planning company in China, as well as the company’s key clients who are influential Business Tourism buyers.
Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland in Shanghai, their fact-finding itinerary was designed in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Development. The influential group was here to experience what the region has to offer and to sample some of our iconic attractions like the Cliffs of Moher and top hotels like Dromoland Castle. Business Tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, offering significant economic benefits.
Tourism Ireland is stepping up its efforts to grow Business Tourism from its key markets around the globe in 2010. The organisation’s approach will highlight the good value rates available for meetings and conferences from hotels and other suppliers around the island of Ireland; it will emphasise the world-class conference and meetings facilities available here. Tourism Ireland will also showcase the great experiences Business Tourism delegates can enjoy here on the sidelines of their conference or meeting, interacting with locals and savouring aspects of our unique culture and heritage – like the Cliffs of Moher.
Susan Li, Tourism Ireland China, said: “We are delighted that so many of these key Business Tourism buyers have taken the time to come to the Shannon Region and see what we have to offer at first-hand. Business Tourism is an extremely important, high yield sector and Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote the island of Ireland as a premier Business Tourism destination. The superb meetings, incentive and transport infrastructure on offer here, coupled with the distinctive cultural experience, means the island of Ireland is now an even more viable and attractive destination for the Business Tourism market than ever before.”
