Giant’s Causeway wows French journalists

11 May 2009

A group of influential walking and activity journalists from France visited the Causeway Coast last week.  They were here to find out more about the wonderful walking routes and trails on offer in Co Antrim and to experience at first-hand the spectacular countryside of this part of Northern Ireland.  Their trip was organised by Tourism Ireland in France, in conjunction with leading French tour operator Allibert and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

During their fact-finding visit here, the journalists also enjoyed walks in Belfast and Londonderry, as well as a trek on the Inishowen Peninsula in Co Donegal.

Billy Condon, Tourism Ireland France, said: “Media visits such as these are extremely important to help build awareness of the Causeway Coast and Northern Ireland among potential walking visitors in France.  The publicity value of the articles these journalists will write is fantastic – they will be read by many hundreds of thousands of potential holidaymakers.

“Tourism Ireland in France has an extensive promotional programme in place for 2009; walking is one of the activities we are promoting, highlighting Northern Ireland as a fantastic walking destination.  It is absolutely essential that we convey the message that there has never been a better time for French people to visit the Northern Ireland.”
