Kerry played host to group of leading Indian travel agents last week. One of the highlights of their fact-finding visit, organised by Tourism Ireland in India in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, was a tour of Muckross House and Gardens in Killarney.
Michael McCormick, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Asia, said: “We are delighted to welcome these travel agents to Killarney. There is increasing awareness of the island of Ireland as a holiday destination in India and our marketing campaigns are generating keen interest in Ireland.
“Tourism Ireland works closely with influential travel agents such as these on an ongoing basis, encouraging them to come and experience Ireland at first-hand. This visit helps them to know exactly what the South West has to offer potential Indian holidaymakers and to sell more effectively when they return home.”
Tourism Ireland believes that the Asian outbound travel market, including India, is set for significant growth in the coming years. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) the Asia-Pacific region will be one of the fastest-growing outbound regions, expanding by +6.5% on average over the next 15 years.
