Pampering was the order of the day for a group of Nordic journalists who visited Co Laois earlier this week. The visit, organised by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, stopped off at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort in Killenard.
Steven Roberts, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Increasingly, the island of Ireland is becoming known for the high quality of its spas and the health and wellness experience on offer here. This type of holiday very much appeals to Scandinavians and with the development of so many top-class facilities around the island of Ireland in recent years, health and wellness is one of the themes now being promoted by Tourism Ireland in the Nordic region. The fact that it is possible to enjoy a relaxing spa experience in Ireland, and engage in activities like golf, culture and heritage, very much appeals to Scandinavians.
“The Nordic region is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland, last year delivering 259,000 visitors. Media visits such as these are very important, in terms of helping to spread the good news about Laois and the high quality product of the spa and wellness product available on the island of Ireland, to potential Nordic holidaymakers.”
