Italian Journalists Fly In On New Aer Lingus Service

07 Apr 2008

To celebrate the launch of the new Aer Lingus service between Rome and Belfast, Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board hosted a group of leading Italian journalists on a three-day familiarisation visit of Northern Ireland.

The visit took in Belfast, Armagh, Down and the North Antrim Coast where the group toured the Giant’s Causeway and the Old Bushmills Distillery.

Recent years have seen strong growth in the number of Italian visitors to Northern Ireland. With the new Aer Lingus flights from Rome to Belfast, combined with increased promotional efforts, Tourism Ireland is confident that the number of Italians visiting Northern Ireland will continue to grow.

Pictured finding out more about the distillery’s 400th anniversary celebrations this year are Valentina Grasso, Aer Lingus; Claudio Zeni who writes for top food and beverage magazine Terre del Vino; and Chiara Pifferetti, Tourism Ireland Italy.
