Northern Ireland food was the order of the day for a group of German travel writers who enjoyed a gourmet visit here recently. The visit, organised by Tourism Ireland, together with NITB, took in the culinary delights of Belle Isle Cookery School, Pat O’Doherty’s famous Fermanagh Black Bacon, the Causeway Cheese Factory, Bushmills Distillery and St George’s Market. In addition, they enjoyed visits to many other specialists including delis, chocolatiers and organic producers.
Monika Wöermann, Tourism Ireland, said: “Northern Ireland is fast becoming known for its food, with a reputation for high quality, natural products used in both traditional and innovative dishes. The German market is very discerning about food and this aspect of holidaying in Northern Ireland appeals to them greatly.”
The group also enjoyed the scenery on a drive along the Causeway Coastal route and a visit to the Giant’s Causeway.
