Publicity

Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, operates an extensive publicity programme in all of our overseas markets.

Media Visits
Media visits, in particular, are vital to publicise the island of Ireland to potential visitors. In 2007, we hosted over 1,850 media visits to the island, which in turn generated over 5,000 major articles and broadcasts, giving us an equivalent advertising value of over €136M/£92.5M. And the publicity campaigns run by Tourism Ireland achieved an audience reach of over 1 billion people.

Getting the message out
Publicity messages overseas are consistent in their support of the ‘Discover the island of Ireland’ advertising campaigns. These highlight ease of access to all parts of the island, as well as the extensive range of things to do and see once here. We also build publicity around a selection of themes relevant to the industry each year, such as food, music, heritage, festivals and events. These have included: Rally Ireland; St Patrick's Festivals; the worldwide release of the film “PS I love you”; to name just a few.

Help us stay up to date
Our Overseas Market Offices keep their local media contacts constantly updated on developments here at home. So if you have a business or service, make sure you keep us informed, so we can pass on the information and generate publicity overseas.

Hosting media visits
If you are interested in hosting journalist visits from overseas, please contact Fáilte Ireland or the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, who arrange their itineraries. Or you can email Emma Gorman on egorman@tourismireland.com.
