Mainland Europe is an increasingly important source of visitors for the island of Ireland. In 2006, 2.35M European visitors came here, an increase of +18% on the previous year, representing one in every four of all tourist arrivals. European visitors contribute €1.4Bn/£989M to the economies of the island.
