St Patricks Campaign 2011

Our packed programme of St Patrick’s promotions reached up to 250 million potential visitors around the world this year.  Publicity, advertising, traditional, online and social media promotions helped boost interest in holidaying here.  Our global ‘greening’ captured the imagination of potential visitors, trade partners and media across the world.  It helped to generate positive publicity worth €10 million in advertising terms.

Tourism Ireland’s new Ireland Town game for facebook, went live on St Patrick’s Day and was played by over 100,000 people in the first five days.  The game brings the holiday experience here to life for facebook fans across the world and provides another valuable promotional platform. Tourism Ireland is the first national tourist board in the world to launch a social game, tapping into the huge popularity of games like FarmVille and CityVille.  Visit www.facebook.com/irelandtown
