Dublin will roll out the red carpet over the coming two days to welcome Tourism Ireland’s ‘TweeTour’ – a business tourism promotion with a difference which kicks off today. Working with one of the most influential international event management planners – the International Special Events Society (ISES) – Tourism Ireland has invited two senior decision-makers involved in the important MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) sector in GB to take part in their very own ‘TweeTour’ of Dublin.
ISES board member Cecilia Lavin (@PGCecilia) and event management professional Duncan Miller (@Duncancmiller), of George P Johnson, will spend the next two days exploring Dublin. Their whistle-stop tour, designed by the Dublin Convention Bureau, will take in lots of different event facilities – from well-known, established venues and attractions, such as The Convention Centre Dublin and the Guinness Storehouse, to new, up-and-coming meeting and event spaces, including the Crypt at Christ Church Cathedral, The Little Museum of Dublin and the Science Gallery. During their time here they will live tweet and blog about their experiences – sharing what they see and do around the city with ISES members and other influential event planners across Britain who are active on social media. They will be highlighting what a great choice Dublin is for an international conference, meeting or event – helping to boost business tourism visitor numbers from the important Great Britain market.
David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s head of business and sports tourism, said: “Dublin is a wonderful destination for conferences, meetings and incentives and our innovative ‘TweeTour’ will use Twitter to showcase some of the world-class facilities and venues, accommodation and visitor attractions to be found around the city. Inviting our event management experts to share their live experiences is a great way to highlight what we have to offer in a dynamic and engaging way. It should prove to be a really effective way of engaging with decision-makers around GB online – by bringing them along for the virtual journey, we’re hoping to inspire them to recommend Ireland as the destination of choice to all their clients for their next business tourism event."
Tourism Ireland’s busy programme of activity to grow business tourism from Great Britain this year has included a number of high profile events and promotions, highlighting ease of access, the great facilities and good value rates available for meetings and conferences here and getting the island of Ireland known for excellence in business support.
Tourism Ireland will be tweeting from @MeetInIrelandGB throughout the trip. Similar ‘TweeTours’ will take place in Galway and Londonderry later this month.
