Top Travel and Tourism Professionals Visit Portrush

Tourism Ireland invited top travel and tourism professionals from Great Britain, Europe and the US to Northern Ireland to experience the recent Irish Open at Royal Portrush. During their short stay, the group enjoyed a visit to Belfast, the excitement of the final day’s play at the Irish Open and the opportunity to play Royal Portrush the following day.

The group included representatives of airlines, event management companies, as well as influential media, and during their short stay these decision-makers were able to experience at first-hand some of the excellent tourism and golf product Northern Ireland has to offer.  

Niall Gibbons, chief executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “We were delighted that these high calibre business leaders took time out of their busy schedules to come and visit Northern Ireland, play a round of golf here, enjoy our spectacular scenery and the warmth of our welcome. Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote Northern Ireland as a premier destination for both leisure and business travellers. This year’s programme of major events for ni2012, such as the Irish Open, is providing a wonderful opportunity to showcase the new and vibrant Northern Ireland around the globe and to position it as a ‘must see’ destination.”


On the first tee at Royal Portrush are Craig Evans, Technicolor Logistics (GB); Frank Undall, Newsline Denmark; Ruben van der Zaag, golf journalist (the Netherlands); Athar Khan, Delta Airlines (the US); James Pagano, Hogg Robinson Group (the US); and Adam Morris, Zibrant (GB).
