A group of 20 travel agents from France enjoyed an action-packed visit to Fermanagh and Northern Ireland this week. The agents recently completed an online training programme specially designed to help them promote holidays to Northern Ireland. They were invited here, on completion of their training, by Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
During their time in Fermanagh, the French group enjoyed a guided tour of the magnificent National Trust property of Castle Coole. They had lunch on board the cruiser, Inishcruiser, and visited the Marble Arch Caves. They also took part in some outdoor activities at the Share Village in Lisnaskea – including archery, climbing and sailing.
As well as visiting Fermanagh, the group visited Titanic Belfast and the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Cultra. They drove along the Causeway Coastal Route, visiting the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge and the new visitor centre at the Giant’s Causeway, before enjoying a walking tour of the walled city of Derry.
Billy Condon, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Southern Europe, said: “Visits such as this are an excellent opportunity to showcase the high standard and variety of tourism product on offer around Northern Ireland to influential travel agents. Our aim is to enthuse them about the destination, so that when they return to France they are better equipped to advise their clients about Northern Ireland when planning and booking their holidays.
“2013 is set to be another exciting year for tourism in Northern Ireland with the year-long programme for Derry~Londonderry UK City of Culture, as well as other great events like the World Police & Fire Games. These events, together with the warm welcome for which Northern Ireland is renowned, are providing us with wonderful opportunities to showcase Northern Ireland around the world.”
