A group of leading international event planners, based in Germany, visited Northern Ireland over the weekend. The group included decision-makers from various companies involved in the MICE (meetings, incentive, conferences and events) industry.
Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland in Germany, their itinerary was designed by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board in conjunction with Wallace Travel Group. The influential group was here to experience what Northern Ireland has to offer conference and business delegates and to sample some of the great experiences those delegates can enjoy here on the sidelines of their conference or meeting, including tours of Titanic Belfast, Queen’s University, the Ulster Museum and the Linen Hall Library.
Tourism Ireland has a busy promotional programme in place to grow business tourism from Germany and other key markets around the globe. The organisation’s approach is to emphasise the world-class conference and meetings facilities available; and to highlight ease of access and the good value rates available for meetings and conferences from hotels and other suppliers in Northern Ireland and around the island of Ireland.
Kristina Gauges, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Central Europe, said: “We are delighted that these key business tourism buyers have taken the time to come to Belfast and see what we have to offer at first-hand. Business tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, offering significant economic benefits, and Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote Northern Ireland as a premier business tourism destination. The superb meetings, incentive and transport infrastructure on offer here, coupled with the distinctive cultural experience, means Northern Ireland is now an even more viable and attractive destination for the business tourism market than ever before.”
