Millions of TV viewers around the Middle East are set to see images of Kerry and the South West next month, following the recent visit of a crew from Abu Dhabi TV.
Invited here by Tourism Ireland in Dubai in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, the crew was here to capture footage for Al Mashaweer , an Arabic language travel programme which means ‘trips’. The programme, which will air in mid-June, will feature a tour of Killarney by jaunting car including shots of St Mary’s Cathedral, the National Park and Ross Castle; it will also feature the Ring of Kerry.
Abu Dhabi TV is regularly viewed by up to ten million people and is broadcast in Abu Dhabi and around the other GCC states, as well as in Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
Amanda Burns, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Asia, said: “We are delighted that the Abu Dhabi TV crew has chosen to film here; it really is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase Kerry and the South West to a wide audience in the Middle East. Tourism Ireland has a busy promotional programme in place throughout 2011, emphasising the convenience and value of a holiday on the island of Ireland, highlighting our spectacular scenery and the huge variety of things to see and do here.”
