Over 500,000 people living in Japan and South Korea will see the stunning scenery of Co Wicklow later this year, in a promotional film featuring a well-known Korean actor and celebrity, Won Bin. The actor’s new promotional DVD was filmed on location in Wicklow last week, courtesy of Tourism Ireland in Japan.
Won Bin, whose latest film The Man From Nowhere was released in August, chose Ireland as the location for his promotional DVD after seeing the film Once, which he says is his favourite film. Footage will include Powerscourt Waterfall as well as Powerscourt House and Gardens.
Amanda Burns, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Asia, said: “Won Bin has a huge fan base in Asia, particularly in Japan, and this promotional DVD will provide Tourism Ireland with a wonderful opportunity to showcase Ireland, and in particular Wicklow, to a large audience of potential holidaymakers around Japan. The film will also be featured on Tourism Ireland’s website in Japan.”
TV and film are recognised as strong influencers on prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland works closely with TV and production companies to facilitate the making of travel programmes and films around the island of Ireland.
